Campaign Finance
"Oregon is not for sale."
-Jim Gilbert
Jim knows that Oregonians are tired of the process of lawmaking being
dominated by lobbyists and the money they represent. We deserve a government that puts our needs above the desires of big campaign contributors. That is why Jim has pledged not to seek or accept any financial contributions from special interest groups or out of state corporations.
Jim doesn't see this as a partisan issue, but as a moral one. We can't expect our legislators to act against their own electoral interests. As long as lawmakers think they can't get elected without special interest money, they will continue to take it, and continue to sell their votes to the highest bidders. They don't like to do it--nobody does--but they don't feel they have any other choice. Jim's victory would prove to them that they do. If elected, Jim will support real campaign finance reform for the state of Oregon, to reduce the power of special interests even further.
